RADIO BROADCASTING // PRODUCTION
Along with live broacast, All Our Stories allows for the broadcast of pre-produced stories. This provides an opportunity to step outside the immediate studio and engage stories and sounds in the broader community. Along with feautres produced by Jess and Leah themselves, All Our Stories is also a space where emerging or professional radio makers without a weekly show can present content they have produced.
Jess has taken her microphone along to Koorie heritage walks, spoken word workshops, protests and has captured the sounds of city buskers, academics, artists and historians. You can hear a collection of pre-produced content here:
Mito Elias on Morna and Saudade: Part of a series on music and nostalgia
Robert Wood, A Journey Through Aboriginal Literature
Urban Koorie Tour
Presented by Jess Fairfax and Leah Avene, All Our Stories uses music, literature, theatre and poetry as a genesis for discussion around identity, untold histories, human rights and the power of story as an expression of who we are. The show is shaped by the musicians, activists, historians, poets and passionate minds who grace the microphone each week to tell, share and represent their own voices, demonstrating that our cultural narrative and identity is not singular, but made up of many interweaving stories and sounds. Over the 5 year life span on the show, Jess has been fortunate to interview legendary artists such as Ziggy Marley, activists such as Illyasah Shabaz (daughter of Malcolm X), Australian music legends Archie Roach and Kutcha Edwards, along with a plethora of writers, poets, historians and young people.
